Bodegas Ovidio García began in 1999 as the result of the dream of the García family to turn up in an example of quality wine-making, with a modern touch, but also based in the tradition and in the land as the essence.
Our philosophy is based in the effort and the eagerness in our work, taking care of each detail and pampering to the maximum each process with the aim of reflecting in our wines the expression of the land into the vineyards.
The underground cellar lasts three centuries of antiquity and it was built at seven metres of depth by a manual excavation of its galleries.
These architectonic features allow to maintain a constant humidity of a 70-80 % and a temperature between 11 and 14 º in a natural way during all the year. These circumstances are ideal for the aging of the wine in casks and bottles.
In the inside of the cellar, it outstands a 14- metres-traditional romain grape grinder beam preserved in a perfect condition. Over the ancient cellar, it has been built an industrial unit with the latest techniques to elaborate and bottle the wines, joining together tradition and innovation.
We are set in an Atlantic área with continental influence, marked by external agents such as the thermal fluctuation or the altitude, which has a positive impact on our grapes.
In our vineyards it outstands the grape variety “Tinto fino or Tempranillo”.
Our land is composed by an external layer of stony fields with sandclays at the bottom, which makes it perfect to find the best expression or our marvellous grape.
The average age of our vineyards is about 30 years, with a productivity around 3000 and 5000 kg per ha. However, for our vintage and reserve wines we have at our disposal unique regions with an antiquity of around 80 to 100 years and a low productivity. It is important for us to highlight that we only produce our wines with grapes coming from our own vineyards. Besides, we always try to respect the area biodiversity and environment.

During the visit, we’ll tell you about the elaboration process, the aging, bottling and settling of the wine besides a choice of curiosities about our wines. The tasting of three wine glasses with a snack is included during the visit.
